Welcome to Functionally Useless—the personal project hub of Shane Syring (Ontario, Canada). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to the website https://functionallyuseless.com and any landing pages, previews, or browser-based tools hosted here (collectively, the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

Functionally Useless is operated by Shane Syring, an individual based in Ontario, Canada. If you have questions, contact support@functionallyuseless.com.

2. Eligibility and acceptance

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site. By accessing or using the Site, you confirm you meet this requirement and accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

3. What the Site includes

The Site hosts landing pages, informational pages, and web-based tools or experiments. Some pages may link out to separate apps or services that have their own terms and policies. Those terms apply to the linked app or service, not this Site.

4. No accounts or purchases (right now)

You do not need an account to use this Site, and there are no on-site purchases. If future features add accounts, subscriptions, or payments, new terms may apply and will be posted.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Site. Specifically, you will not:

  • Use the Site in violation of any law or regulation.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Site, its servers, or security.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape the Site in ways that violate applicable law or these Terms.
  • Use the Site to distribute malware, spam, or other harmful content.

6. Intellectual property

All content on the Site—including text, graphics, branding, and code—is owned by or licensed to Shane Syring unless stated otherwise. You may view the Site for personal use. Any reproduction, distribution, or modification beyond personal use requires prior written permission.

7. Third-party links and downloads

The Site may link to app store listings, external resources, or third-party sites. Those are provided for convenience; Shane Syring is not responsible for third-party content, policies, or actions.

8. Web-based tools and informational content

Any calculators, trackers, or experimental tools are provided for general informational purposes only. They are not professional advice (including health, financial, or legal advice) and may contain errors or limitations. You are responsible for how you use any outputs.

9. Availability and changes

The Site may change, pause, or end without notice. Features may be added or removed at any time. Major updates to these Terms will be reflected on this page.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the extent permitted by law, all warranties (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement) are disclaimed.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shane Syring is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business opportunities arising from your use of the Site. If liability cannot be disclaimed, it is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid (if anything) to use the Site or (b) CAD $10.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Shane Syring from claims or losses arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Site, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, except where otherwise required by law.

14. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated periodically. The “Last updated” date above will change when updates are made. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
